Money woes among former NFL/NBA athletes

Interesting story on SI.com:  http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1153364/index.htm?eref=sisf

I'm not sure how much I believe about some aspects b/c I know that the Triton financial claims he makes are disputed, but the data on athletes is definitely interesting.

Got this from a Statesman article that led me to SI.com:
"In it, writer Pablo S. Torre chronicles the financial disasters of many former professional athletes: unsound investments, wealth-management naivete and general ignorance about matters such as cash flow, risk, debt and fiduciary responsibility. Torre’s conclusions are startling. For instance: By the time they have been retired for two years, 78 percent of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress because of joblessness or divorce, he writes. And within five years of retirement, an estimated 60 percent of former NBA players are broke.
"

Check it out and leave thoughts here.
